Sugar Moon Farm, Northumberland Shore, Nova Scotia
(Angela & Ken - Part 3 of 6)

Sugar Moon Maple Sugar FarmI've known my friend Angela since kindergarten. When she found out I had started this blog, she sent me a series of great stories and photos from her travels with her partner Ken. In this, her third story, she tells of a fun place to visit in the Northumberland Shore Region:

Sugar Moon Maple Sugar Farm"In January, when we were home for a visit with Ken's family we went to Sugar Moon Farm for a sleigh ride and yummy all-you-can-eat pancakes with yummy maple syrup. Sugar Moon is definitely a great family spot in Nova Scotia and lots of fun."

Long Lake Provincial Park,
Halifax, Nova Scotia (Part 2 of 2)

Long Lake Provincial Park, Nova ScotiaAs a follow-up to my post on April 24, I wanted to share these new pictures from our second adventure to Long Lake Provincial Park.

Where the path in the trail splits, this time we went left along the lake. What a fabulous location this is for hiking, cross-country mountain biking, and swimming. And, it's only minutes from the Armdale Rotary off the Bay Road. You could even bike there from downtown Halifax in a less than an hour.

Long Lake Provincial Park, Nova ScotiaIsn't this shoreline shot beautiful? Steve and I strongly suggest you check it out some time.

Cambra Sands, Malagash, Nova Scotia
(Angela & Ken - Part 1 of 6)

Cambra Sands, Malagash, Nova ScotiaI've known my friend Angela since kindergarten. When she found out I had started this blog, she sent me a series of great stories and photos from her travels with her partner Ken. In this, her first story, she tells of a beautiful place in the Northumberland Shore Region:

Cottages of Cambra Sands, Malagash, Nova Scotia"Cambra Sands is awesome. The cottages are awesome - brand new with fireplaces and whirlpool tubs and board games and bbqs and well everything you would every want at a cottage. We loved it there. And you can get massages on site. And have lobster boils.

Cambra Sands, Malagash, Nova Scotia"Malagash is a great little spot, lots of sandy beaches to walk and Jost Winery is close by, as well as the Tim Hortons camp. Ken's grandparents had a cottage in Malagash when he was young and it is a place filled with great memories for him - Cambra Sands actually is on the same beach that he played on as a kid."

Lake George, Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia

Lady Slippers, Annapolis Valley, Nova ScotiaCheck out these beautiful shots of some Lady Slippers we spotted on one of our routine walks in the woods near my cottage at Lake George. It's a pretty buggy time of year here in Nova Scotia, so I kept myself busy swatting mosquitoes long enough, so Stephen could stay still long enough to capture these beautiful flowers. I think they definitely fall into my top 5 list of favourite flowers. Aren't they beautiful?

Lady Slippers, Annapolis Valley, Nova ScotiaI'm looking forward to all the wonderful flowers we'll spy throughout the spring, summer and fall months here in Nova Scotia. One of my favourite spots to see flowers in bloom is at the Halifax Public Gardens in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Halifax Public Gardens, Nova Scotia

Halifax Public Gardens, Nova ScotiaOn one of my visits to the Halifax Public Gardens, Nova Scotia last year, my boyfriend Steve Locke took some beautiful pictures of the flowers. These historical gardens are my favourite place to read a book, catch up with a friend, or take some photos.

Halifax - My Other Favourite Place in Nova Scotia

When I graduated from high school in the Annapolis Valley, I moved to Halifax for my Public Relations degree at Mount Saint Vincent University.

Then, I moved to Ontario after my degree and spent six wonderful years in Ottawa and Toronto before moving back to my homeland in June 2006.

Halifax FerryFor me, living in Halifax is a perfect combination of urban living, and access to my country roots in the Annapolis Valley. It only takes about an hour-and-a-half to drive to my home town of Berwick and my cottage in the Annapolis Valley.

To feature Halifax, I'm happy to present this beautiful photo of the Dartmouth-Halifax Harbour Ferry by Terry McCulloch. The ferry is on its way back to downtown, and I love how the sun's rays accent the buildings that line the harbour.

Blue Nose MarathonAlso, last weekend in Halifax, my friends and family got together to cheer participants on in the Blue Nose Marathon. From just beneath the Clock Tower on Citadel Hill, we watched the marathon and half-marathon runners take their mark, set, go!!!

Nova Scotia Bloggers

After a fantastic weekend at my cottage, I flew to Calgary for the Online Revealed Conference. This tourism web strategy conference has been a great opportunity for me to connect with some experienced bloggers from beautiful Nova Scotia:

On her Bay of Fundy Blog, Terri McCulloch explores the rich culture and experience available along the shores of the Bay of Fundy. The Bay is home to the highest tides in the world, delicious seafood restaurants, whale watching adventures, breathtaking hiking trails, and so much more.

On his Hike the Highlands Festival Blog Tom Wilson provides oodles of multimedia rich stories and discoveries from previous festivals. You can also find tips and information of everything from bird watching, to hiking, to nordic walking, to waterfalls. The Hike the Highlands Festival is a Nova Scotia Signature Festival you don't want to miss this September.

My Favourite Place in Nova Scotia

My brother's dog, JesseThis weekend, I'm heading down to my cottage on Lake George in the Annapolis Valley, about 20 minutes south of Kentville. I've been spending time at Lake George since I was in my mother's stomach. This marks my first trip of the 2008 summer season.

Sunset at Lake George, Annapolis Valley, Nova ScotiaThere is always fun to be had at the lake and in the Annapolis Valley. This time of year, while the water's too cold to swim, my boyfriend Steve and I plan day trips to attractions in the area. If the weather's fair this weekend, we're going to hike Cape Split on the Bay of Fundy. Alternatively, we may also do our annual trip to Oaklawn Zoo in Aylesford. There is so much to see and do!

Personally, I can't wait to sit back and enjoy the sunset after a nice meal and over a blazing bon fire. I also love the second-hand shopping at Frenchy's, but nothing compares to the people down home. We sure know how to have a good time together!
