Five Islands, Fundy Shore, Nova Scotia

My friend Mark White lives in Five Islands, Fundy Shore, Nova Scotia.

He just raves about the Five Islands Provincial Park on the Fundy Shore of Nova Scotia. He sent me this photo to share:

Five Islands, Fundy Shore, Nova ScotiaI'm going to try to visit Mark in Five Islands on my way to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park of Canada this summer.

The Cape Breton Highlands are nestled into the north-eastern tip of beautiful Cape Breton Island. They feature natural wonders, such as fabulous hiking trails and beautiful waterfalls.

Also, the Cape Breton Highlands contain White Hill - the highest peak in Nova Scotia at 532 metres (1,745 feet).

I can't wait to follow the winding Cabot Trail along the coast, and see the amazing views from the Skyline Trail. Hopefully, I'll even have time for some rest and relaxation at Ingonish Beach.

Long Lake Provincial Park,
Halifax, Nova Scotia (Part 1 of 2)

Long Lake Provincial Park, Nova ScotiaSteve and I checked out Long Lake Provincial Park on Sunday, and it’s now one of my favourite places to go hiking, because it's so accessible from downtown Halifax. From the Armdale Rotary, the entrance is only about a 5- to 10-minute drive up the Bay Road on the left-hand side.

When you enter the park from the parking log, you walk a short distance on the main path through the woods to get to a point where you can go right or left along Long Lake.

Long Lake Provincial Park, Nova ScotiaOn this, our first, adventure we decided to go right, and followed the path inland for about 30 minutes until we met up with a beautiful river. At the river, we turned left to follow the river back down to the lake. The pictures that accompany this post show off some of the beautiful spots we found along this lazy river.
